Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Biography

Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October, 1931 at Dhanushkodi, a temple town of Tamil Nadu. He belonged to a working class Tamil Muslim family. His father was a boat builder. As a child, he was attracted by the flight of sea gulls. Initially he wanted to become a pilot, but later made up his mind to become an aeronautical engineer.

                                                                                              He got his degree in aeronautical designing from the Madras Institute of Technology in 1958. He joined India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) to deal with an air cushion vehicle venture. Kalam moved to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), where his group effectively propelled a few satellites. He made a huge commitment as Project Director to build up India's first indegenous Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-3) which effectively positioned the Rohini satellite into the close to earth circle in July 1980. 

In 1982, Kalam came back to the DRDO as executive. He was answerable for the advancement of the AGNI and PRITHVI rockets. He is in this manner known as India's rocket man. He composed Tamil sonnets at whatever point he got time. He likewise figured out how to play 'veena' .

Kalam was elected the 11th President of India and took office on July 25, 2002 . Dr. Kalam received honorary doctorates from at least thirty universities. He also received India's three highest civilian honours-- the Padma Bhushan in 1981 ; the Padma Vibhushan in 1990 ; and the Bharat Ratna in 1997 . 

He has composed numerous books . Some of them are "India 2020" , "Touched off Minds" . "India-my-fantasy", "Wings of Fire" (life account) , "Outside Quest" and so on.

Kalam loves children. According to him children are the architects of the future of our country . He wants to ensure that all children have a secure, healthy and happy childhood. His interacts with children on the Internet. Children send e-mails to him with queries and get their replies within 36 hours.

Kalam is fond of gardening too . He has set up two herbal gardens and one 'spiritual garden' in the Bio-diversity Park next to the Mughal Gardens . The spiritual garden is a symbol of peace and unity . The sacred plants of all the religious like Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, Sikhism, Jainism and Zoroastrianism are planted in the garden . He himself planted the "Trinity" -- a neem, a banyan and a peepal together. To amuse very young children, there is the Bio-diversity Park where a number of animals like deer, tortoise, duck and turkey are kept. He has also got a kitchen garden where vegetables are grown organically . 

On 27th July 2015, Kalam travelled to Shillong to deliver a speech at the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. Only five minutes later into his lecture, he collapsed on the stage. He was rushed to the nearby Bethany Hospital in a critical condition. Kalam was affirmed dead of an unexpected heart failure at 7:45p.m. 

On 30th July 2015 , the previous president was let go at Rameshwaram's Pei Karumbu Ground with full state respects . More than 350,000 individuals went to the last customs , including the Prime Minister, the legislative leader of Tamil Nadu, the central clergymen of Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

He was inspiration of many people and give many lessons to young people about how to life their life and give them a sunshine of hope.
